Antique Burmese amber ear plug 譯即〝古老緬甸婦女的琥珀耳塞 〞,都是百年前的古董文物,現代已經不流行這種飾品了
有關說明如下:
Here is an arrangement of pairs of Burmese (Hkakhu) amber ear plugs (patlokan) which looks very similar to the illustration on page 240 of "the World of Earrings".  According to the author "This reddish amber, or burmite, was formerly found in deposits in the north of Burma."  One can still see photos of an elderly woman wearing them. These are most likely around 100 years old - very rich amber coloured, practically glowing with light.  The first pair are just over 4 inches long and slightly over 3/4 inch thick.  The upper ear plug is almost perfect simply showing natural wear from its years of use.  The matching plug has a chip on the point though, that happened fairly recently.  It is a quite new looking chip.  The other end is rough looking, but that is a natural result of the amber's delicacy over long wear.  These pieces are lovely though, and would look beautiful in a collection.  $325.US/pair.  The second pair is 1 3/4 inches long and 1 7/8 inches long, about 7/8 inches long at their widest.  Their shape is slightly graduated to help them stay in the ear more easily.  $190.US/pair.  Pair #3 is quite short so that very little would extrude from the ears - front and back.  They are a little over 5/8 inches tall and just under 7/8 inch across.  Quite lovely in colour.
